How I Work
I work with people in close relationships, facilitating conversations in a compassionate and respectful way, in order to collaborate with them to overcome the challenges they are facing, or move towards the way they would like to be together. This could be in order to improve relationships, to talk about challenging situations and events they are facing, to support a family member who is experiencing particular difficulties such as mental health challenges, or to enhance family or couple relationships whatever the circumstances.
What is systemic family psychotherapy?
‘Systemic’ psychotherapy acknowledges that people in relationships affect one another, as do the wider systems and contexts in which they live; working together as a ‘system’ or family can be helpful to address challenges together. ‘Family’ can be defined in many ways and I work with any group of people who care about each other and describe themselves as family. I welcome working with diversity, appreciating people’s own definitions of their identities and social, cultural and religious contexts. I aim to support families to move towards their own goals, and tailor my approach to each family’s needs.
Practicalities
If you would like to enquire about family or couples therapy with me, please get in touch. We can liaise by email or have a brief phone conversation to decide whether, and when, to arrange an initial session, and who should attend. I will then send you an intake form to complete with your details, and it will give you further information about my service.
I usually see family members or couples together, but sometimes see them individually as part of the therapy or see parents without children for some sessions. Frequency of sessions might be weekly, fortnightly or monthly, depending on need, and this is something we discuss and agree together.

Supervision
I offer supervision to psychologists and psychotherapists using a variety of therapeutic approaches. As a Counselling Psychologist, I draw on modalities such as person-centred, systemic, CBT, psychodynamic, EMDR, narrative and integrative approaches. As a Systemic Family Psychotherapist, I am particularly interested in social constructionist, narrative approaches.
